There are three basic elements to a grouse hunt: Identify good grouse habitat Work it properly Make a quick, accurate shot Use a good close working pointing dog. Work hard in the off season on shooting, and be DAMN good at it! Use a 20 gauge (You'll thank me after the first 5 miles!) with 7.5 shot. Wear protective eyewear, and brush pants are a must! Look for berry bushes and fruit on trees / bushes.
