Chukar Partridge
The Chukar was introduced to the states during the 1800's. The introduction was successful in the dry mountainous areas in the western part of the US.

The Chukar runs when alarmed. Running is their best escape tactic. They generally will run uphill and fly downhill.

They rely heavily on their eyesight and hearing.

They eat mainly seeds and grasses. Chukar will also eat insects like the grasshopper.

Their life span is very short. Long winters affects the population greatly.

They are also highly mobile.

I have not had many opportunities to harvest these bird.
